Fire Service was set-up in the year 1948 soon after separetion of Indo-Pak Sub-continant in 1947 which continued till 1982.The present directoret of Fire Service & Civil Defense was created by amalgamating the erstwhile Fire Service and Civil Defense Depertment under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Rescue Service under the Ministry of Communication in the year 1982. as the responsibilites of these Depertment / Services wear inter related.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate of Bangladesh like else where, in the world is one of the lead government agencies, which is responsible for responding first during any disaster. We have been working hand in hand with all other government as well as non-government organization in the management of natural and man-made disasters. Needless to say that Bangladesh is a disaster-prone country, which regularly experiences natural disasters such as flood, cyclone, tornado and mediam low level earthquake. as Bangladesh is an earth quake prone country, it is predictable that mejor earth quake mey attack this country at any time. So, to cope up with the probable vulnerable situation Bangladesh Fire Service & Civile Difince taking Step to incress modern equipments and skillded rescuer through short tarm & long tarm training plan with regards to Collupsed Structure Search & Rescue (CSSR).
